Wahkiakum High School Seniors,

We hope that you have taken some time to visit wahkiakumdollarsforscholars.org to develop your student profile and begin the application and search process. You can search for scholarships, both local and worldwide, once your profile is completed. Be sure you apply for each of the scholarships listed individually. Local scholarship applications will open March 1 with a deadline of May 1.

Interviews will be held in the middle of May. In addition to an interview, the selection committee will evaluate applicants based on the following:

• Transcripts submitted by Miss Ashe  via email at cashe@wahksd.k12.wa.us

• Two essays - each essay should be no more than two pages, type the essays in google Docs, copy and paste in the essay section.

Essays will be evaluated on the basis of content, format, grammar, punctuation, spelling, clarity of thought, and the ability to follow directions.

The first essay should discuss 1) your career choice, 2) your post secondary education plans, 3) reasons why your choice was made, and 4) evidence of your abilities and experiences which have prepared you for your chosen career.

The second essay should discuss any unusual family circumstances or hardship(s) that have affected your life, and may be useful to us when considering your application. For example; in- dividual or family illness, any disabilities, tragedies, and family issues such as divorce, single parent, etc. or any other circumstances that have changed your life. (Please note all information in the essays will remain confidential)

Marlena Silva will be reviewing your application process and can be reached at school or via email. Please remember to check your email during the scholarship process. Thank you for using the on-line application process, and we'll see you in May for your interview.
